it plays sound, but no video. it isnt the cords because they work fine on my friends xbox.

um, I'd contact Xbox and tell them your problem. If they cover it and if it's within 3 years, you can get a free repair, if it's not covered or if it's over 3 years, then it'll probably be $150. Anyways, just call Xbox support.
